Digitalization in Retail

The Role of EDI in the Retail Industry

Selling the best and right product to the customer is a priority for every retail business. These companies strive hard to meet the expectations of their customers in a hyper-connected world.

For an efficient management approach, the retail sector needs to create a coherent system along the value chain of ‘Planning, Purchasing, Transportation and Sales’.This can only be achieved with an agile IT infrastructure for better service delivery and customer satisfaction.

Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) is the most important enabler of digital transformation for retail supply chains. With EDI solutions, customer, order, inventory data, etc. is efficiently and easily shared between trading partners and their systems (ERP, CRM, etc.).

EDI Benefits

Collaborating with your trading partners using EDI allows you to enjoy many benefits, such as:

Automates communication with suppliers

With EDI, phone, email and fax traffic to send orders to suppliers is eliminated, resulting in a faster and more consistent process.

Time Savings

The data needed from suppliers to automate the reconciliation between orders, goods received and invoices is easily obtained through EDI, minimizing manual work.

Simplifies Order Management

EDI helps to easily access order information from suppliers, ensuring a complete and timely process.

Enhanced Access

Cloud-based tools enable the integration of trading partners and supply chain adoption, and provide enhanced access.
